Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday met PM Modi and briefed him about the steps taken by the Kashmir administration and the Union Home Ministry to improve the security situation in J&K.
Amit Shah reached the Prime Minister’s official residence at Seven, Lok Kalyan Marg on Tuesday morning and apprised him of the situation in Kashmir.
The two leaders discussed the atmosphere of fear created by the targeted killings by terrorists in Kashmir.
The Home Minister also informed the Prime Minister about the exodus from the Valley due to this fear.
In the meeting, the Home Minister also apprised the Prime Minister about other important issues related to internal security.
Recall that in the last 16 days, terrorists have killed 11 non-locals in the valley. Because of this, there is an atmosphere of fear.
In this sequence, Amit Shah will visit Jammu and Kashmir from 23 to 25 October and will hold an important high-level meeting on the security situation there.
This will be the first visit of the Union Home Minister to Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370.
During this, the Home Minister will not only give tips to the security forces to improve the security situation but will also make various announcements related to development projects.
On Monday, Shah held a marathon meeting with senior officials including the DGP, NSA Ajit Doval, and Intelligence Bureau chief, and discussed the internal security situation in detail.
NIA can handle the investigation of recent killings in Kashmir.
Meanwhile, sources have informed that the Ministry of Home Affairs may hand over the investigation of the recent killings in Kashmir to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
They say that these killings indicate a certain pattern that points towards a terrorist angle.
This issue was discussed in depth in the National Security Strategic Conference on Monday and the Home Minister discussed it in detail with all the parties.
Another government source said that the killing of civilians in Kashmir has sent a wrong signal and most of the migrant laborers and non-Kashmirs are migrating from there.
This is causing an atmosphere of fear among the local people as well.
These incidents have also scared Kashmiri Pandits who were keen to return to Kashmir following the government initiative.
Meanwhile, the local NIA team is already assisting the J&K Police in investigating the murders and trying to identify the perpetrators of these murders.
According to sources, the central agencies are also investigating the old cases of stone pelters as these targeted killings have revealed that these killers are not of terrorist cadre.
NIA Director-General Kuldeep Singh visited Kashmir on Monday.
Senior officials said the probe agency will take over the cases of Kashmiri Pandit pharmaceutical dealer Makhan Lal Bindru, Bihar-based non-Kashmiri seller Virendra Paswan and other laborers.
On Monday, NIA Director General Kuldeep Singh had visited Kashmir and discussed the security situation.
Kuldeep Singh is also the Director-General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), which is playing a key role in the counter-terrorist operation in the Valley.
He directed the force to devise a fresh strategy for the operation against terrorist organizations in the Valley.
