Mariupol’s Theater Destroyed In Russian Attack

Mariupol’s theater was destroyed in the Russian attack, more than 1300 civilians were still trapped under rubble.

More than 1,300 civilians are still trapped under rubble at a drama theater in Mariupol’s southeast of Ukraine. According to officials, the theater was reportedly bombed by Russian planes on Wednesday.

The Kyiv Independent quoted ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova as saying 130 people were rescued from the Mariupol Theater destroyed by the Russian attack on Wednesday, although most were trapped under the rubble.

Media reports say a drama theater hosting hundreds of civilians fleeing conflict-torn areas of the city of Mariupol in Ukraine’s southeast was reportedly bombed by Russian planes.

Mariupol City Council shared a photo of the destroyed building, saying that the Russian military deliberately and reprehensibly destroyed the drama theater in the center of Mariupol.

It is still impossible to estimate the scale of this horrific and inhuman act as the city opens up residential areas, the council wrote on Telegram.

The council said, it is known that after the bombing, the central part of the drama theater was destroyed and the entrance to the bomb shelter in the building was destroyed.

The council said the plane dropped a bomb on a building where hundreds of peaceful Mariupol residents were hiding. Subsequent videos showed fire in the ruins of the theatre.

The number of casualties in this attack could not be ascertained. Russia is facing heavy pressure from the international community to halt its military operations in Ukraine.

This war has created a huge humanitarian crisis with thousands of refugees from Ukraine fleeing neighboring countries to the west.

India supported the convention on banning biological weapons in UNSC, said – a complete ban on weapons of mass destruction is necessary.

India has insisted on a complete ban on Biological and Toxin Weapons (BTWC) in the United Nations Security Council.

At the UNSC, India has supported the comments made by the Secretary-General for Disarmament Affairs, Izumi Nakamitsu, about biological activities related to Ukraine.

India has said that it supports the banning of the entire category of weapons of mass destruction, including biological weapons.
