Marin Cilic Made It To The French Open Semi-finals
Marin Cilic made it to the French Open semi-finals for the first time, defeating Rublev: French Open 2022.
The French Open, the second Grand Slam of the year, is now moving towards its last stop. The winners of the tournament which started on 16th June will be decided by June 6.
All eyes will be on the men’s singles final. Rafael Nadal is on his way to his 22nd Grand Slam title from Spain. Meanwhile, Croatia’s Marin Cilic made it to the semi-finals of this tournament for the first time.
Cilic made 33 aces to reach the semi-finals of the second Grand Slam French Open tennis tournament of the year, beating seventh seed Andre Rublev in a four-hour and ten-minute match.
He defeated Rublev 5–7, 6–3, 6–4, 3–6, 7–6 in the quarter-finals to register a victory. Cilic has reached the semi-finals of Roland Garros for the first time.
Cilic won the only Grand Slam title eight years ago in the US Open. Cilic lost to Roger Federer in the finals of Wimbledon 2017 and Australian Open 2018.
The last time he reached the semi-finals of a Grand Slam was four years ago. Cilic will now face eighth seed, Casper Roode.
It was felt in the quarter-finals of the French Open late Tuesday night as Red Gravel King Nadal once again proved his mettle at Roland Garros by defeating defending champion Novak Djokovic to reach the men’s singles semi-finals.
Nadal defeated Djokovic 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4) in a match that lasted four hours and 12 minutes. After the exit of one of the two stalwarts, now the claim of the other to win this title has been confirmed.
