Maratha Community Will Get 10% Reservation In EWS Category

Maratha community will get 10% reservation in EWS category: Maratha Reservation. Uddhav government’s gift to Maratha students, 10% reservation in EWS category.

The Uddhav government of Maharashtra has made a big announcement for the Maratha community on Monday.

The government has decided to give 10% reservation to students and candidates belonging to the Maratha Community’s Economically Weaker (EWS) category.

Maratha candidates will get the benefit of 10% EWC reservation (10% Reservation for Maratha Students) in direct service recruitment.

Significantly, after the decision of the Supreme Court to cancel the Maratha reservation, the state government is trying to provide relief to the people of the Maratha community.

The government said that when the Maratha reservation was in force in the state, the Maratha community could not take advantage of the EWS reservation.

But after the Supreme Court’s decision to cancel the Maratha reservation, the state government has decided to give EWS reservation to the people of the Maratha community.

Supreme Court had rejected.

On May 5, 2021, the Supreme Court rejected the Maratha reservation decision of the Maharashtra government. Regarding this, the top court said that due to Maratha reservation, there will be a violation of the 50 percent limit.

While taking a decision on this, the five-judge bench had said that in order to bring the Maratha community under the purview of reservation, this community cannot be declared educationally and socially backward.

What is EWS Reservation.

EWS means Economically Weaker Section. In 2019, 10 percent reservation in education and jobs was given by the central government for the same class of people.

Significantly, people with an annual income of less than Rs 8 lakh can get reservation in education and job under EWS.
