Male tailors took measurements of female policemen in Andhra Pradesh, the anger of the Women’s Commission erupted.

Pictures of male tailors allegedly taking body measurements of women personnel to stitch police uniforms went viral on the internet media on Monday.

The incident sparked anger not only from the opposition but also from the Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Women. The incident is of the SPS Nellore district.

State Women’s Commission chairperson V Padma has sought an explanation from SPS Nellore district superintendent of police C Vijaya Rao.

The SP has assured the commission chairman that he will ensure that such incidents do not recur, an official release said.

SPS Nellore Police said in a tweet that action has been ordered against an unidentified person for entering an area without permission and taking photographs.

District SP reached the spot and reviewed the situation.

Nellore police said that now in the presence of the SP, women tailors are taking measurements under the supervision of an Additional SP (administration) and a woman sub-inspector.

Also told that the department has brought a new dress code on the designation of village ward secretariat protection worker as women police.

Arrangements have been made in various units for the tailoring of prescribed uniforms for women police.
