Stampede after jostling

Mahakumbh Stampede: Akhadas will not take Amrit Snan

To control the situation and avoid further mishaps, Kumbh Mela Officer Vijay Kiran Anand appealed to the Akharas to postpone the Amrit Snan for the time being. Agreeing to this appeal, Akhada Parishad president Srimahant Ravindra Puri said, “We will fully cooperate with the administration. The safety of the devotees is paramount.”

To control the crowd, all major routes leading to Sangam have been barricaded, and devotees are being evacuated through alternate routes. This unfortunate incident has raised questions about the security arrangements in the organization of the Kumbh Mela.
