Madras High Court’s Observation On The Protection Of Temples

The Madras High Court has made this important observation in a decision related to the protection of ancient temples and heritage in Tamil Nadu.

Madras High Court: 224-page order issued.

A bench of Justice R Mahadevan and Justice PD Adikesavalu, in its 224-page order, has said many important things about India’s ancient culture and cultural heritage.

The bench said, ‘The intellect and skill of the people of this earth have been far superior even in those fields, whose answers are still being sought by science.

The ancestors here have given principles and have also given many monuments and heritage in the form of wonders and paths.

Heritage also left history.

The purpose of making them was not only a personal achievement, but this heritage has also left traces of history for future generations.

The High Court said that there is a need to preserve and manage its ancient heritage. Advanced technology should be used in this.

Instructions to set up Heritage Commission.

While delivering its verdict on various PILs, the court has directed the state government to constitute a 17-member heritage commission within two months.

It has also been said that without the recommendation of the commission, no changes will be made in the structure of any heritage, temple, etc.

The state has also been asked to form a committee at the district level within eight weeks, in which experts from history and architecture should be included.

List of these temples sought.

The committee will identify those idols in the temples, which come under the category of heritage. They have been asked to take their photographs and prepare their computerized data.

The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department of the Tamil Nadu government has been asked to have a strong room in all temples and complete security arrangements with alarms.

The state government has also been asked to submit a list of temples where there is no trustee within eight weeks.

The special tribunal will be constituted.

Special tribunals will also be constituted to deal with matters related to religious institutions falling under the provisions of this department.

The court said that Tamil Nadu is known all over the world for its grand and ancient temples. These temples are evidence of the golden history of this place. They should be protected.
