Jharkhand Police’s Crackdown on Naxalites: Jharkhand Police intensifies action against Naxalites, killing 3 commanders in major encounters. DGP Anurag Gupta warns rebels to surrender or face consequences.
Police action in Jharkhand causes panic among Naxalites, 3 commanders killed; DGP issues warning. With the start of the new year in Jharkhand, Jharkhand Police has adopted an aggressive stance against Naxalites. IEDs are being recovered continuously. Within a week, two encounters took place with large groups of Naxalites.
In these, the security forces killed four Naxalites without any loss. These include two female area commanders, a zonal commander, and two male Naxalites. A Naxalite with a reward of Rs 15 lakh is in police custody, through whom the police are gathering information about his big associates.
In this campaign against Naxalites, the district force of Jharkhand Police and Jharkhand Jaguar are also getting full support from the central forces. These include teams of Cobra 209, 203, and 205 battalions as well as CRPF’s 60, 197, 157, 174, 193, 134, 26, and 11 battalions.
Currently, Bokaro, Giridih, Dhanbad and West Singhbhum districts are in the news. The campaign is in full swing here. Security forces are looking for Naxalites with rewards of Rs 25 lakh and Rs 15 lakh, besides Misir Besra, Prayag Manjhi alias Vivek, Asim Mandal, and Anal, who have a reward of Rs 1 crore on their heads.

Jharkhand Police’s Crackdown on Naxalites: DGP’s warning, surrender or face consequences
Amidst the ongoing action against Naxalites, Jharkhand Police DGP Anurag Gupta has warned the Naxalites to surrender and join the mainstream, leaving the path of violence. The DGP has assured land and rehabilitation arrangements on surrender under the government’s surrender policy, in addition to the reward amount.
He has warned that if the Naxalites do not leave the path of violence, they will have to face encounters and lose their lives. Not only this, the SPs and senior police officers of the districts are also appealing to the relatives of the Naxalites to explain to their Naxalite sons, husbands, and fathers to leave the path of violence and return to the mainstream.
The major action of police against Naxalites within a week
Action of 22 January: A woman area commander Shanti Devi and a Naxalite member Manoj Tudu were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Penk Narayanpur police station area of Bokaro district. Security forces arrested 15 lakh bounty regional committee member Ranvijay Mahato in this encounter. Shanti Devi was a resident of Chatro in Khura, Giridih. Manoj Tudu was a resident of Dhawatand in Pirtand, Giridih.
Action of 29 January: Maoist zonal committee member Vinay Ganjhu alias Sanjay Ganjhu alias Baria alias Bhukhan alias Sanjay and area committee member Hemanti Manjhiyain were killed in an encounter with security forces in the forest near Vilayati Tola in Sonuwa police station area of West Singhbhum district. Vinay Ganjhu was a resident of Lomaga Tola Kusum in the Simaria police station area of Chatra district. Hemanti was a resident of Nawadih in Bokaro district.

Some other Naxal-related cases in January 2025
On January 5, a three-kilogram IED was recovered from the forested, hilly area between Sarajomburu and Lovabera in the Tonto police station area.
On January 7, at 9.30 am, a pressure IED exploded in the Radhabeda forest located at Tirilposi in the Jaraikela police station area.
A seven-year-old girl died in this incident. Another woman was injured. Both of them had gone to the forest to pluck Siyal’s leaves when the incident occurred.
On January 12, security forces recovered six arrow IEDs from the forested, hilly area between Tumbahaka and Bagan Gulgulda in the Tonto police station area.
On January 16, security forces demolished an old Naxal dump in the forested hilly area around Bongasiu in the Goilkera police station area. Walkie-talkie, its charger, a rope, electric wire, sports shoes, Synthex, etc. were recovered from the said Naxal dump. On January 17, a 1.5 kg IED was recovered from the forested, hilly area around Kudaburu in Sonuva police station area.
