Jawa 42 vs Royal Enfield Bullet 350: Engine and Specifications

Both Jawa 42 and Royal Enfield Bullet 350 have retro design language. However, there is a lot of difference in their mechanical underpinnings. Jawa has taken a modern approach with the 42, which is evident from the updated 294.72cc, liquid-cooled engine. This engine, which has been modified to produce 27 horsepower and 26.84 Nm of torque, is mated to an excellent 6-speed gearbox that has an assist-and-slipper clutch.

On the other hand, the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 which was updated last year. It is powered by a 349cc, air-oil cooled engine that produces 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm of torque. Royal Enfield Bullet 350 comes with a 5-speed gearbox.

One similarity between the Jawa 42 and the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 is that it uses a traditional double cradle frame. However, there are differences in the platforms of the two. The Jawa 42 is inclined towards a sportier setup with 35mm front forks and twin gas-charged rear shocks. A 280mm front and 240mm rear disc are responsible for providing braking, and single or dual-channel ABS is available on all models.

The Royal Enfield Bullet 350, on the other hand, is geared towards a more classic riding experience by using 41mm forks at the front and twin shocks at the rear. Additionally, the wheelbase of the RE is also slightly longer than the Jawa model, giving it a more comfortable riding posture.

Price

The updated Jawa 42 has been priced competitively. The prices of the model have been reduced. It now starts at Rs 1.73 lakh (ex-showroom), which is Rs 17,000 cheaper than before. Meanwhile, the top trim level with dual-channel ABS is now priced at Rs 1.98 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Royal Enfield Bullet 350 is priced similarly to the Jawa. It starts at Rs 1.73 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 2.16 lakh (ex-showroom).
