Jagdeep Dhankhar Will Be NDA’s Vice Presidential Candidate

Jagdeep Dhankhar will be NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate, BJP announced.

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar will be the Vice Presidential candidate from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

This decision was taken in the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting on Saturday.

PM Narendra Modi, JP Nadda, Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and other members of the Parliamentary Board were present at this meeting.

Giving information about the meeting, JP Nadda said, “Everyone participated in the parliamentary board meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the selection of the vice-president’s candidate.

Many names were discussed. After considering all the names, we have come to the conclusion that we forward the name of our farmer son Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji.

He had established himself as a renowned lawyer in the Rajasthan High Court in a very short span of time. They are first-generation lawyers.”

Venkaiah Naidu’s term will end on August 10.

The electoral college consists of members of both the Houses of Parliament, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to choose the Vice President of the country.

The current strength of the Parliament is 780, out of which only BJP has 394 MPs. More than 390 votes are required to win. The tenure of current Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will end on August 10.

Voting for the next Vice President on August 6.

The last date for filing nomination papers is July 19 and voting is scheduled for August 6. The BJP has fielded tribal leader Draupadi Murmu as its candidate for the presidential election.

If Murmu wins the election, she will be the country’s first tribal president. In 2017, the NDA nominated Naidu, the then Union minister, for the post of vice-president.

The BJP is in a strong position to ensure the victory of its candidate this time too.
