ITBP bus falls into gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, 6 killed, 33 others injured.

Six Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel were killed and 33 others injured when a bus fell into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on Tuesday.

The injured soldiers are being airlifted to the Army Hospital in Srinagar for treatment. ITBP personnel was returning after completing Amarnath Yatra duty.

Due to brake failure, the bus met with an accident and slipped from the road and fell on the bank of the river. An official gave this information.

ITBP commandos have been dispatched to the spot so that relief and rescue operations can be expedited.

A police official said that the bus carrying 37 ITBP personnel and two Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel fell into a deep gorge between Chandanwadi and Pahalgam.

Six ITBP personnel died on the spot, while 10 other personnel were seriously injured. Other jawans also sustained injuries in the accident.

ITBP bus falls into gorge: The bus was coming from Chandanwadi to Pahalgam Police Control Room.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed grief over the accident by tweeting. He wrote, ‘Saddened to learn about the accident of a bus carrying ITBP and police personnel in Pahalgam, J&K.

My prayers and condolences are with the bereaved families. The injured have been taken to the hospital. May they get well soon, this is my prayer to God.

The actual place of the accident is said to be Frislan, which is about 16 km from Pahalgam. The bus carrying the soldiers slipped off the road and fell into a gorge about 500 feet deep.

It is worth mentioning that in the Udhampur district last week a minibus slipped off the road and fell into a gorge, injuring 18 people. Most of the passengers were students.

This mini-bus was going from Barmin towards Udhampur when suddenly the driver lost control of the vehicle and the bus fell into a gorge near Ghordi village.
