ISRO successfully test-fires Gaganyaan Rocket Booster HS200: Gaganyaan Rocket.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on Friday (May 13) took a step forward in its manned space mission program ‘Gaganyaan’ by successfully completing a static test firing of a solid fuel-powered rocket booster engine.

The booster engine is part of the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle MkIII (GSLV Mk III) rocket that will carry Indian astronauts to space.

ISRO tweeted, “ISRO successfully conducted the static test of Manned-Rated Solid Rocket Booster (HS200) for Gaganyaan program on May 13, 2022, at 7:20 am local time at Satish Dhawan Space Center (SDSC), Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.”

In another tweet, ISRO informed, ‘HS200 Rocket Booster is a human-rated version of the proven S200 Rocket Booster of the GSLV Mk III satellite launch vehicle.

This full-duration test of the first stage of the launch vehicle is a major milestone for Gaganyaan.

The 135-second test firing of booster ‘HS200’ took place in the morning and is part of the manned rating process of the rocket GSLV Mk III.

The design of Booster HS200 was completed at Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram, and further design of this booster with propellant casting was completed at SDSC Sriharikota.

The GSLV Mk III rocket is a three-stage vehicle. The first stage is powered by solid fuel, the second by liquid fuel, and the third cryogenic stage is powered by liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen.

The CBI informed on Friday that taking cognizance of corruption in the purchase of ration and other materials for the canteen and store, an army officer was arrested.

According to the CBI, the army officer has been arrested for alleged corruption and taking bribes from various private suppliers in connivance with field officers.
