India Created History By Injecting 100 Crore Vaccine Doses

India created history by injecting 100 crore vaccine doses, know, which vaccines played an important role.

India on Thursday created history by immunizing over 100 crore citizens. India has achieved a major milestone in its vaccination program against the corona pandemic.

The country on Thursday crossed the immunization mark of over 100 crore citizens. Greeting the people on the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the doctors, nurses, and all of them.

Let’s take a look at the vaccines developed, manufactured, or in use in the country that is playing an important role in this campaign.

India started its vaccination campaign on 16 January this year to prevent the spread of coronavirus. At that time only two vaccines were available in the country, Covaxin and Covishield.

India has so far granted emergency use authorization to six vaccines against the coronavirus. Three of these vaccines are in emergency use.

These include Oxford AstraZeneca’s Covishield vaccine manufactured by Serum Institute of India, Covaxin manufactured by Bharat Biotech Ltd, and Sputnik V developed by Gamleya Research Institute Russia.

The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has granted Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to the vaccines of Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, and Zydus Cadila.

Two of which are expected to help speed up the vaccination campaign by October-November.

On 3 January, India approved the corona vaccines Covishield and Covaxin for emergency use.

India’s first indigenous corona vaccine, Covaccine has been developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Institute of Virology (NIV).

On October 12, the drug regulator’s Subject Expert Committee (SEC) recommended emergency use authorization for Bharat Biotech’s Covaccine for children aged 2-18 years as well.

The SEC has submitted its recommendation to the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) for final approval.

Covaxin is also in the process of getting approval from the World Health Organization. In India, Oxford-AstraZeneca’s vaccine, Covishield, is being manufactured locally by the Serum Institute of India (SII).

This vaccine has been approved by the World Health Organization.

India is taking CovaShield and Covaccine to poor countries under the World Health Organization-led Kovax initiative.

Along with this, India can accelerate the export of corona vaccines by December under its humanitarian initiative ‘Vaccine Friendship’.

‘Vaccine Maitri’ is an initiative that was started by the Government of India to make the coronavirus vaccine available to countries across the world.

The third vaccine approved by the DGCI for the European Union was Sputnik V.

According to the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), on April 13, the DCGI approved the use of the Sputnik V vaccine.

According to the medical journal Lancet, Sputnik V is 91.6 percent effective in preventing corona.

Vaccine distributor Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories said in September that two doses of the Sputnik V vaccine needed to be administered in the same hospital.

The pharma company also informed that there should be a gap of 21 days between both vaccines.

Additionally, the central government on June 29 granted emergency use authorization to the US pharma company Moderna’s corona vaccine, making it the fourth vaccine to be approved in the country.

In addition, Janssen, a single-dose corona vaccine from American pharma giant Johnson & Johnson, has received a EUA in India on August 7.

The pharma company had said that this is an important milestone that has paved the way for bringing a single-dose vaccine to people in India and the rest of the world in collaboration with Biological E. Ltd.
