The situation was calm but tense in Imphal after the attack on the Manipur Rifles camp, many markets in the city remained closed.

On Wednesday, a mob tried to surround the Manipur Police office complex in Imphal, the capital of Manipur. They were planning to loot weapons.

However, security forces fired several rounds in the air to disperse a large crowd of over 2,000 people.

The situation remained calm in the capital Imphal on Thursday but the atmosphere remained tense.

He said, “The state government provided food, ration, water, and other essential items to the people living in the camp, but all this has been stopped since September.”

“We do not know why, but some people say that since the state Refugees from Manipur also came to Mizoram after the ethnic violence, the government here is overburdened and has stopped extending a helping hand. But sometimes, some NGOs send us rations.”
