In order to promote semiconductor manufacturing in the country and attract global electronic chip companies, the government will bring in a Design Linked Incentive Scheme.

Global companies such as Qualcomm, MediaTek, Intel, Infineon, and Texas Instruments have research and development centers within the country, which contribute to their chipset development.

An official said, “The government is looking at introducing a new semiconductor design linked incentive scheme.

Under this, not only financial help will be given to MSMEs and startups, but incentives will also be given during manufacturing.

So much so that when these startups start manufacturing and selling the chip, they will also be able to avail additional incentives on net sales.

Minister of State for Information Technology Rajiv Chandrasekhar said last week that the government would host a conference of semiconductor companies in November to discuss the roadmap in the sector.

Rajiv Khushu, Chairman, IESA, said, “This is a major initiative that will make a significant contribution to the field of semiconductor design.

We expect more than 25 such companies to be set up in the country in the next few years, which will impact the global semiconductor market.

Edible oil prices soften as import duty comes down.

After a long time, the price of mustard oil and refined has registered a decrease. Mustard oil, which had crossed the price of Rs 190 per liter some time ago, is now being sold at a price of Rs 175.

The reduction in import duty by the central government is believed to be the reason for this. Refined oil, which was sold for Rs 155 per liter last month, has now come down to Rs 150 per liter.

These prices are going to give relief to the kitchen in the festive season. The prices of various pulses including tur have also come down.

Refined prices have also come down. After the central government reduced the import duty by Rs 15 per liter, big companies have reduced the price of refined by five to six rupees.

Customers say that as much as the central government has cut the fee, the companies should also do the same.

In fact, this time the farmers did not sell the mustard crop in the market, because the price in the open market had reached three times the MSP.

This made oil expensive, but the farmers got a big benefit from it.
