Good days will return for the airlines’ sector, 120 new aircraft will be added every year: Scindia.

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has expressed hope that good days will return again for the aviation sector badly affected by the Corona epidemic.

He said that if all goes well, Indian companies will have to add 110 to 120 new aircraft every year in their fleet.

Addressing the inaugural session of Wing India 2022, Scindia said companies will have to induct large-size aircraft in their fleet if they want to start flying to many new global regions.

He has expressed hope that by next year the number of domestic passengers will reach 4.10 lakh per day and by 2024-25, the number of passengers will be at a record level.

“India’s aviation sector is expanding in a big way. Not only has the number of airlines increased, but the number of airports is also increasing.

In such a situation, it will be necessary for companies to add new aircraft to their fleet. He said that in 2013-14, all the companies had a total of 400 aircraft which increased to 710 last year.

A top Airbus official said on Thursday that the European aircraft maker believes that India will need around 2,200 aircraft in the next two decades.

Scindia said that there are currently more than 9,000 pilots in India and 15 percent of them are women. This figure is much higher than the global norm of five percent.

He said that the number of domestic passengers was 39 per day, which fell to about 11 lakh during the third wave of Corona.

However, now the number of passengers has once again increased to more than 38 lakhs, which is close to the number of 41 lakh passengers of Corona-East.
