Chill will increase again in Jammu and Kashmir, and snowfall is likely in many parts of the valley; the Meteorological Department issued an alert. The weather in Jammu and Kashmir will change again from Thursday and snowfall may occur in many parts of the valley. Similar weather may be seen in the high mountain areas of the Jammu division.
Meanwhile, the people of the valley, who are battling a severe cold, are not getting any relief. On Wednesday also, the minimum temperature remained below the freezing point in most areas including Srinagar. Pahalgam remained the coldest area in the valley with minus 8.4 degrees Celsius.

In Jammu and Kashmir, authorities have closed many roads including Gurez-Bandipora, Mughal, and Sinthan Top roads as a precaution given the weather forecast.
Possibility of snowfall in the upper areas of the valley
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of snowfall again in the upper areas of the valley from January 16. This change in the weather will come due to the effect of Western Disturbance. A similar is expected on January 17 as well. After this, it will remain clear till January 19. However, there is a possibility of snowfall and rain again from 20 to 23 January.
Meanwhile, the sun came out in Jammu in the morning. This gave a lot of relief to the people. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Srinagar on Tuesday night was minus 4.3, minus 5.4 in Qazigund, minus 4.7 in Kupwara, minus 4.6 in Kokernag and minus 7.4 degrees Celsius in Gulmarg.

Fresh Snowfall Expected in J&K: North India in the grip of fog
The effect of cold and fog is visible in North India. Its effect is also being seen on trains and flights. On the other hand, there is a possibility of a change in weather again in the hilly areas, the weather changed again due to rain in many states in the plains on Wednesday.
Due to fog in the national capital Delhi, about 500 flights operating from IGI Airport were delayed on Wednesday. About half of these flights left for their destination with a delay of one hour or more. The fog was so severe that two dozen flights had to be canceled.
Of these, 22 flights were of Indigo and the remaining two were of SpiceJet. To save passengers from trouble, advisories were issued throughout the day by DIAL and airlines. In the advisory, passengers were requested to stay in touch with the airlines for information related to the departure of the flight.
