Former Bengal minister Shyamapada Mukherjee arrested on charges of financial corruption: Screws.
Shyamapada Mukherjee, who was a minister in the previous Mamata Banerjee-led government in Bengal, has been arrested by the police on charges of financial corruption.
Mukherjee, a senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader in Bankura district and a former minister, broke ties with the party and joined the BJP ahead of the assembly elections in the state this year.

However, after not getting the ticket, he was also disillusioned with the BJP and wanted to return to the Trinamool again.
He also tried his best for this but the Trinamool leadership did not give him any attention. Now he has been arrested in the case of financial embezzlement of Rs 10 crore from Vishnupur municipality.
Apart from being a minister, he was also the administrator of Vishnupur municipality. At the same time, he was accused of embezzlement of funds from various government projects.
After interrogation, in this case, he was arrested by the police late on Saturday night.
Mukherjee was the Textiles Minister from 2011 to 2013 in the first government formed in the state headed by Mamata Banerjee.
In 2011, he was elected MLA from the Bishnupur seat of Bankura on a Trinamool Congress ticket. However, he was defeated in the 2016 election.
After this, before the 2021 elections, he left the party and took up the saffron flag, but the BJP also did not give him a ticket. At present, he was not in any party and was away from active politics.
