5 Chinese accused in hacking case in America

The United States of America Department of Justice has accused five Chinese citizens in a massive hacking case. They have been accused of stealing software data and business-related information from more than 100 companies and institutions in many countries including the US and Indian government networks.

US Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen announced three indictments on Wednesday. Among them, five Chinese citizens have been collectively accused of committing computer hacking. Two Malaysian citizens have also been accused of helping him. Malaysian nationals were arrested on Sunday, according to a statement from the Department of Justice.

While Chinese citizens have been declared fugitives, many foreign governments, universities and think tanks were targeted in this cyber attack as well as Hong Kong’s pro-democracy leaders and activists. Chinese hackers also targeted Vietnam and the British government’s computer network.
