Female Boxer Parveen In The Semi-finals Of WWBC
Female boxer Parveen in the semi-finals of IBA. LPU’s Parveen was confirmed for a medal in IBA Women’s World Boxing Championship and made it to the semi-finals.
Lovely Professional University female boxer Parveen has assured a medal in the (63kg) category at the International Boxing Association Women’s World Boxing Championships in the Turkish city of Istanbul.
Parveen won over Shoira Zulkenarova of Tajikistan. Parveen will take on Ireland’s Amy Broadhurst in the semi-finals.
The championship will conclude on May 20. 310 women boxers from 73 countries are participating in it.
Ahead of the quarterfinals, two LPU boxers Parveen and Jasmine were registering consecutive victories against their respective IBA opponents in the 12th edition of the championship.
Representing the Indian team, both the boxers entered the quarter-finals of the championship with a chance of victory.
Parveen (63kg) defeated former Youth Olympic champion Jazaira Gonzalez of USA 5-0. Jasmine (60kg) had defeated Australia’s, Angela Harris.
The referee was forced to stop the competition in the first round itself. Jasmine could not make it to the semi-finals.
Jasmine missed out on a medal after losing 1-4 to the 2019 World Championships bronze medalist Rashida Ellis.
LPU Chancellor Dr. Ashok Mittal said that sports activities along with education are equally important for any educational institution.
The World Boxing Championships are expected to yield results in favor of LPU and Indian boxers.
Lucknow must win over KKR to make it to the playoffs.
