Elections Will Be Held In Israel For The Fifth Time In 3.5 Years

Elections will be held in Israel for the fifth time in three and a half years, a chance for Netanyahu to start new innings and return to power.

After deepening the political crisis in Israel, the ambitious government has collapsed and there are now going to be elections once again.

The reason for the departure of this government is the union of eight opposite ideological parties who came together only to remove former PM Benjamin Netanyahu from power.

Now Israel will have to hold its fifth election in three and a half years.

Yair Lapid, the current foreign minister and leader of Israel’s second-largest party, Yesh Atid, will become interim prime minister and lead the country until next October or November when elections are held.

Last time also Netanyahu’s party got the most votes.

In the previous elections, Netanyahu’s Likud party won the most votes, but Netanyahu failed to bring together the 61 seats needed to form a government.

Hence the mandate was given to Yair Lapid. To everyone’s surprise, Lapid decided to form an eight-party coalition government, originally designed to oust Netanyahu from power.
