Educational Programs Are Welcome: Ramadoss On TN’s Budget

Educational programs are welcome; Rising indebtedness worries – According to a statement issued by Ramadoss.

Ramadoss said educational programs are welcome and the growing debt burden is worrying.

Finance Minister PDR Palanivel Thiagarajan has tabled the Government of Tamil Nadu’s budget statement for the year 2022-23 (Tamil Nadu Budge 2022) in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.

While some of the projects announced in the financial statements are welcome, it is disappointing that no special plans have been announced to take Tamil Nadu on a path of progress.

Some of the projects announced for the Department of Education and Higher Education are very welcome.

The allocation for the school education sector has been increased from Rs 32,599 crore to Rs 36,895 crore.

It has been announced that the Rs 7,000 crore Professor Anpalagan School Development Project will be implemented over a period of 5 years to strengthen the infrastructure of government schools.

This is a very appropriate move as students who used to study in private schools are shifting to government schools.

The Rs 25 crore special project to prepare the youth for the Olympics and the announcements that sports complexes will be set up at various places including North Chennai will also lead to sports development.

The Intellectual City will be set up on behalf of the Department of Higher Education;

It will have branches of world-renowned universities; Announcements that government colleges will be upgraded to Rs.1000 crore in five years are also welcome.

In the shadow financial statement of the Proletarian People’s Party, we had announced that Rs.1000 per month would be given to all college students to ensure that women get at least a bachelor’s degree.

It is welcome that the same plan has been included in the financial statements of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

However, the cancellation of the Muvalur Ramamirthammal Marriage Assistance Scheme to implement the scheme is unacceptable.

The scheme of providing finance and gold for the marriage of poor women should also be continued.

At the same time, the reduction in funding for the health sector from Rs 18,933 crore to Rs 17,901 crore and the subsidy for public distribution from Rs 8,437 crore to Rs 7,500 crore will hit the people hard.

While Rs 10,025 crore has been spent on the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme by the Central and State Governments in 2021-22.

The allocation of only Rs 2,800 crore by the State Government for the coming year is not enough.

It is disappointing that no notice has been issued to fulfill the promise to increase the number of working days to 150 under the scheme.

It is regrettable that no announcement has been made about the fulfillment of election promises, including the financial assistance of Rs.1000 per month to family heads.

The monthly payment of electricity bills, and the enactment of legislation to employ only Tamils in private companies.

It is disappointing that no plans have been announced in the financial statements for job creation, including fulfilling promises to fill 3.5 lakh vacancies in government departments and create 2 lakh new jobs.
