ED Seizes Assets Of Brajesh Thakur’s Family In Muzaffarpur

ED seizes assets of Brajesh Thakur’s family in Muzaffarpur, main accused in girl child sexual assault case.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken possession of a building in Delhi worth Rs 1.45 crore in the name of the wife of Brajesh Thakur, the main accused in the Muzaffarpur girl child sexual assault case.

The agency has also seized a fixed deposit in the money laundering case against Thakur and his family members. The ED said in a statement that the multi-story building was seized only last year.

The temporary order related to this was approved by the Judicial Authority and Appellate Tribunal of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in January and February this year.

The agency said that the building, named after Thakur’s wife Asha, is located at Raj Nagar-1 in the Palam Colony area of Delhi. The ED captured it on Tuesday.

In the same case, the central agency has also seized a fixed deposit of Rs 2.07 lakh in the name of Adarsh Mahila Shilp Kala Kendra.

ED Seizes Assets: The ED had lodged a case of money laundering in October 2018 against Thakur, his family members, and others.

The case was registered after a case of sexual harassment of minor girls was reported in the girl child home run by the Service Resolution and Development Committee, a non-government organization (NGO) of Thakur in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar.

The agency said that its investigation had revealed that the girls’ home was being operated in a very arbitrary manner. Many girls living there had reported complaints of assault and sexual harassment.

The ED said that Thakur and others from the girl child raped the girls living there. They also beat them up. The deprived and abandoned girls were kept in the girl’s home.

Of the funds received for the welfare and care of girls, Rs 7.57 crore was spent by Thakur and others for private facilities.

With this money, movable and immovable assets were created. The ED had filed a charge sheet in the case in a special PMLA court in Patna.
