Discussions on the deployment of troops in Afghanistan after August 31: Biden.
US President Joe Biden said that even after the mission of withdrawal of troops in Afghanistan, which was to be completed by August 31, there are discussions on moving forward the deployment of troops.
Addressing reporters at the White House on Sunday afternoon, Biden gave an updated update on the ongoing troop withdrawal mission, Xinhua news agency reported.
When Biden was asked about the August 31 deadline approaching, he said, “There are discussions going on between us and the military, we hope that we will not have to extend.”
He further said that but there are going to be discussions, I suspect that we are still far in this process.
In July, Biden ordered the US military to end its mission in Afghanistan by the end of this month.
The US has been scrambling to drive the Americans and its Afghan allies out of the country since the Taliban entered the capital Kabul on August 15.
Biden said the US military has evacuated about 3,900 personnel from Afghanistan in the past 24 hours and that the US and coalition aircraft have evacuated about 28,000 people since August 14.
He said that the US is implementing a plan to move Americans to the Kabul airport complex and we have expanded access and safe areas around the airport.
The President also said that the security environment on the ground is changing rapidly.
“We know that terrorists can try to take advantage of the situation and target innocent Afghans or American soldiers,” he said.
Biden does not trust the Taliban, so far so many American citizens have been airlifted from Kabul.
The situation in Afghanistan has been deteriorating ever since the Taliban took over. In such a situation, now all the countries of the world are engaged to take out the people trapped here.
At the same time, China and Pakistan are engaged to give recognition to the Taliban, but America does not trust the terrorist group at all. However, America is also continuously airlifting people from Kabul.
