Congress expelled executive state president AKD Arumugam from the party in Puducherry. In Puducherry, Congress has expelled its working state president AKD Arumugam from the party.

Just before the assembly elections in the Union Territory, Arumugam joined the opposition party AINRC, which led to his removal from the Congress.

A release issued by state Congress president AV Subramanian said that the party had come to know that Arumugam was trying to join another party, hence sacking him from the primary membership of the party.

Shortly thereafter, it was announced that Arumugam All India NR Congress (AINRC) founder and former Chief Minister N.K. Met Rangaswamy and joined his party.

Prior to this, many Congress MLAs had switched sides. Many of them joined the BJP and due to this, the government fell. Elections are being held in Puducherry on April 6.

Meanwhile, there was a meeting here on Sunday over the seat-sharing between the Congress and DMK leaders. However, no result was achieved. The next round of talks will soon take place between the two parties.

The last date of nomination in Puducherry is 19 March.

Explain that the dates for the assembly elections in the Union Territory of Puducherry have been announced. In Puducherry, elections will be held for all 30 assembly seats in a phase on 6 April.

The counting of votes will take place on 2 May. Notification of election in Puducherry will be issued on 12 March. The last date for nomination is 19 March.

The Income Tax Department has raided the locations of a bullion trader in Tamil Nadu and the largest retail jewelery business in South India to find out black money worth Rs 1,000 crore.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said that on March 4, 27 locations were raided in Chennai, Mumbai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Thrissur, Nellore, Jaipur, and Indore.

Authorities also seized undisclosed assets worth Rs 1.2 crore during this period.

The CBDT issued a statement saying that evidence from the bullion trader’s premises revealed the sale of undisclosed cash, fake loans through its branches, cash deposits during demonetization, etc. without details.

In the case of a retail jewelery business, it was found that taxpayers obtained and repaid cash loans from local financiers, gave cash loans to builders, and invested cash in real estate.
