Cold wave likely to prevail in North-West and Central India, days to come will be colder – IMD.
The minimum temperature is likely to drop by three to five degrees Celsius over Northwest and Central India during the next five days.
Due to this, cold conditions will prevail over Delhi and the cold wave is likely to prevail over various parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
The coming days will be even colder, Meteorological Department’s warning.
The Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday that apart from Madhya Pradesh, conditions ranging from normal cold to extreme cold are expected in various parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat during the next two to three days.
While the cold wave is very likely to prevail over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Gujarat during the next five days.
Dense to very dense fog will occur in these places.
According to the department, during the next two to three days, dense to very dense fog is very likely to occur in different parts of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Bihar, Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Sikkim, Meghalaya, and Tripura.
There will be no rain in Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana till February 2.
RK Jenamani, the senior scientist of the Meteorological Department, said that after January 26, the cold wave in Delhi will be more intense.
He also said that there is no possibility of rain in Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana till February 2. This is because the Western Disturbance has moved eastwards.
In this cold winter, night shelters have been built on the side of the roads by the Delhi government so that the homeless can get relief.
