In the past, when he was asked about cabinet expansion, he had said that no list was received from BJP, hence cabinet expansion is delayed. He also expressed surprise that for the first time such a delay is taking place regarding cabinet expansion.

During the nomination, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was present along with Deputy Chief Minister Tarakeshwar Prasad Renu Devi as well as leaders like former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar, state BJP President Sanjay Jaiswal.
