Chinese Dominance In The Indian Smartphone Market

Chinese dominance in the Indian smartphone market is about to end, domestic companies are ready to knockdown. Chinese dominance in the Indian market of smartphones is about to end. Soon Indian companies are going to launch in the fully manufactured smartphone market in India.

Due to the government’s Production Linked Scheme (PLI), Indian companies are ready to give a price war to Chinese companies. Four Chinese companies account for 70 percent of India’s smartphone market. This is the reason why the government wants to make Indian companies a champion of the mobile phone market. Right now the share of Indian companies in the smartphone market is negligible.

Micromax is launching phones in the range of 7 to 20 thousand

By the year 2015, Micromax, which holds the number one title in India’s mobile phone market, is going to launch several phones in the Indian market once again. Co-founder of the company Rahul Sharma said that in the festive season this year, many phones of Micromax range of 7-20 thousand rupees will be in the market.

Micromax is going to start the sequence of phone launches in the coming September. Micromax, an Indian company that once exported to several countries in Europe and Africa, is going to invest Rs 500 crore to take advantage of the government’s PLI scheme.

The company already has two manufacturing units in Bhiwadi and Telangana where phones and televisions and ACs will also be made. Sharma says, the arrival of Chinese companies in the Indian phone market led to the exit of Indian companies because Indian companies were not able to compete with Chinese companies in the price. Now the government has given 6 percent incentive under PLI, they will be able to easily compete with Chinese companies.

People seeking Indian phones

Sharma said that his survey revealed that people demand Indian mobile phones while shopping in the shop, but because no Indian phone is available, they buy the phones of Chinese companies. He told that many countries of the world want to buy non-Chinese goods right now. So, this is a big opportunity for Indian companies.

They are also preparing to export phones. The manufacturing unit of Micromax has the capacity to produce 2 million phones every month and the company will try to make their units work at full capacity. In the year 2015, Micromax sold 3 million phones per month. Along with Micromax, companies like Lava, Karbonn are also launching phones.
