The much-talked-about multi-crore solar panel scam came to the fore during the then Congress-led UDF government in the state.

The woman had filed a report against six politicians, including Chandy, alleging that she was sexually assaulted in 2012, officials said on Tuesday.

After this, the Crime Branch of Kerala Police was investigating the case.

The Left government of Kerala led by the CPI(M) had recommended a CBI probe into the case earlier this year. Then the opposition Congress called it politically motivated and called it an election ploy.

As part of the process, the CBI has taken over the investigation of six FIRs registered by the Kerala Crime Branch, officials said.

Apart from Chandy and Venugopal, Hibi Eden, Adoor Prakash, MLA AP Anil Kumar, and BJP leader AP Abdullah Kutty are named in these cases.

The case was registered against Kutty in the year 2014 when he was the Congress MLA from Kannur.

In a letter sent to the police commissioner on July 19, 2013, the woman had accused Chandy of sexual harassment and corruption against several Congress and United Democratic Front (UDF) leaders.
