CBI Has Registered A Case Of 200 Crore Bank Fraud On SHIPL
CBI has registered a case of 200 Crore Bank Fraud against the Bengaluru-based company. CBI has registered a case of bank fraud of over Rs 200 crore against Steel Hypermart India Private Limited, Bangalore, and its directors.
CBI spokesperson RC Joshi said that the agency conducted raids on the premises of the company and the accused in Solagiri and Krishnagiri districts of Bengaluru and Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.
The CBI FIR has named the company as well as its directors Mahendra Kumar Singhi and Suman Mahendra Kumar Singhi chartered accountant Mukesh Surana. In this case, Indian Bank has alleged in its complaint that the company availed a loan facility from the consortium of E-Vijaya Bank and Indian Bank between 2017-2019.
Joshi said the accounts were declared non-performing assets in April 2019 and revealed in November 2019 that it was a fraud. The fraud resulted in a loss of Rs 168.39 crore to Indian Bank and Rs 31.99 crore to E-Vijaya Bank (now Bank of Baroda).
