BJP leader Manish Shukla was shot dead by miscreants on Sunday night in Bengal’s 24 North Parganas district. He was said to be very close to BJP MP Arjun Singh of Barrackpore.

The BJP MP said that this incident was carried out by miscreants of the Trinamool Congress. The party’s national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya has demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident.

However, Trinamool Congress MLA Nirmal Ghosh has said that this is the result of the BJP’s mutual struggle. At the same time, the police have not yet found the clue of the killers. Due to tension in the area, a large number of police forces are deployed.

Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar said that the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and DGP of West Bengal has been summoned on Monday morning in view of deteriorating law and order, leading to the brutal killing of Councilor Manish Shukla in Titagarh.

According to information received from the police, Manish Shukla was returning to the party office on BT Road next to Titagarh police station at 8:30 pm after attending a party meeting and procession in Howrah on Sunday.

Then the miscreants on the motorcycle opened fire on him. Eyewitnesses alleged that the miscreants fired multiple rounds from close quarters. He was rushed to a private hospital in Titagarh in a blood-soaked condition. When his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to a private hospital bordering Kolkata’s bypass. He died at 9:20 in the night.

The police are still in the dark as to who fired. The investigation has started. Due to tension in the area, a large number of police forces have been deployed. There is tension in Titagarh about the incident. BJP leaders and activists staged protests by blocking the road.
