All political parties are churning in the name of their respective candidates. Meanwhile, the BJP Central Election Committee is once again convening a meeting to consider the names of BJP candidates.

There is a possibility that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may also attend this meeting. The election date for all these five assembly elections has been announced by the Election Commission.

According to this, voting will be held in eight phases in West Bengal, three phases in Assam, while in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry, voting will be held in a single phase.

The first phase of voting in West Bengal will be held on March 27 and the last phase on April 29. Assam will have the first phase of voting on March 27, while the final phase will be held on April 6.

At the same time, votes will be cast in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala on 6 April. The result will be done on 2 May.

The National Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) analyzed the affidavits given by MLAs during the elections held during 2016-2020 and found that 170 Congress MLAs joined other parties while only 18 BJP MLAs Other parties joined hands.

ADR reported in its report that out of the 405 MLAs who switched sides in 2016-2020, 182 joined the BJP, 28 MLAs became part of the Congress and 25 MLAs were part of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti.

The report says that during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, five Lok Sabha members joined other parties except for BJP, while seven Rajya Sabha members of Congress joined the other parties during 2016-2020.
