Bindiyarani Devi Won Silver Medal In Weightlifting

Bindiyarani Devi won silver, weightlifting players got their fourth consecutive medal. Bindyarani Devi won her first medal in Commonwealth Games history.

This 23-year-old woman weightlifter from Manipur won the silver medal in the 55 kg weight category. She lifted a total weight of 202 kg.

This is India’s fourth Commonwealth Games medal and all medals have come from weightlifting. Earlier, female weightlifter Mirabai Chanu won the gold medal.

Whereas Sanket Mahadev Sargar won a Silver and Gururaj Pujari won a Bronze medal. India has so far won one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal and is at number 8 in the medal tally.

Bindiyarani Devi lifted 81 kg in her first attempt of snatch. She lifted 84 kg on the second attempt and 86 kg on the third attempt. She was overall third after the snatch.

The Indian weightlifter lifted 110 kg in her first attempt at clean and jerk. In the second attempt, she made an unsuccessful attempt of 114 kg.

In the third attempt, she lifted the weight of 116 kg and won the silver. This was the overall last attempt of the match. This is also the overall record for the games.

Nigeria got gold.

Nigeria’s Adijat won the gold medal. This is also his country’s first medal in the current Games.

He lifted a total of 203 kg including 92 in snatch and 111 kg in clean and jerk. England’s Ferro Morrow won the bronze medal by lifting 198 kg including 89 and 109 kg.

Meanwhile, Indian players have kept their medal hopes alive by performing brilliantly in other sports. Women’s boxer Lovlina Borgohain has reached the quarterfinals.

That is, they are one victory away from the medal. On the other hand, the Indian women’s hockey team registered its second consecutive win.

The team defeated Wales 3-1. The men’s team will start its campaign tomorrow.
