Now the Bombay High Court has ordered Amazon Prime Video to remove Telugu film V from its platform on the complaint of actress Sakshi Malik.

The actress filed a lawsuit for loss of value in the High Court for misuse of her photograph in the film.

According to a news agency, model-actress Sakshi Malik had filed a loss-of-law suit against Venkateswara Creations Pvt Ltd in the Bombay High Court alleging that her photograph was used without permission in the film.

Sakshi’s advocate Suvina Bedi said that Sakshi’s photograph in the film was used in reference to an escort.

The High Court said in the order – it is unacceptable, illegal, and completely illegal at first glance to use someone’s personal photograph without permission. The way it is used can be harmful.

Justice Gautam Patel said in the order that illegal use of photos is wrong. Its low-level use makes matters worse. The court directed OTT platform Amazon to remove the film from the platform within 24 hours until the photo was deleted from the film.

The court said that blurring the photo is not enough. The sequence in which the photograph of the applicant has been used should be removed completely.

Sakshi’s advocate said that the actress has a long fan following on social media and she has also been seen in Bollywood films. The Telugu film V was released on 5 September 2020 on Amazon.

According to Sakshi’s plea, she had one of her portfolio shoots in August 2017, the pictures of which were posted on her Instagram account.

One of these photos is used in a scene of V in the reference of Escort Worker. The suit states that this is an unauthorized attack on privacy. It is disgraceful to see his photo as an escort.

Regarding the use of Sakshi’s photograph, the production company said that she had given a contract to an agency to get the photograph and believed that the agency would have taken prior permission from the woman who has the photograph.

However, the court did not accept this answer. Court also said that after making the change, it would have to be shown to the witness and her advocate.
