Bengal Assembly Elections: Commission asked for police details of disturbed areas during last election in Kolkata.

Where there was a disturbance in Kolkata during the last Lok Sabha elections, the State Election Commission has sought details from the metropolitan police.

The commission has also told the police what steps were taken on its behalf to prevent the disturbance.

According to information received from the sources, an email has been sent to the Kolkata Police Headquarters from the office of the State Election Commission.

The mail has been forwarded from police headquarters to all police stations in Kolkata. It is learned that some police stations have also sent the details to Lalbazar on their behalf.

Sources said that law and order is an important part of election preparations, so the Commission is paying special attention to it. The Commission has a special eye on sensitive areas.

Mapping is also being done in this regard. The commission is preparing data on polling stations where more or less votes have been cast.

Significantly, in the wake of elections, in-charge and additional in-charge of many police stations have been transferred.

According to the rule, police personnel posted for more than three years in any district or division cannot be posted there at the time of vote. Last week 79 inspectors have been transferred.

It is worth noting that the State Election Officer had held an important meeting with the District Magistrates (DM) in the last few days regarding the preparations for the Bengal Vis Election.

Two District Election Officers from Kolkata were also present at the meeting.

In the first meeting convened by the State Election Commission, all the DMs were apprised of the current situation of the corona epidemic and according to it, necessary guidelines were given to get ready for the election.

The current political situation of all the districts was also discussed. The situation during the last assembly elections in sensitive areas was discussed intensively.

The State Election Commission has also started amending the voter list. The entire December amendment will work.

In this regard, special camps are being organized by the Election Commission two days a week in 78,107 booths of the state.
