Azerbaijan Warns Of Attack On Military Bases In Armenia

Azerbaijan warns of attack on military bases in Armenia, says – Do not target civilian targets. In the ongoing battle with Armenia, Azerbaijan has said that the enemy is now attacking civilians. One civilian has been killed and four injured in a rocket attack by Armenia in Ganja city.

Azerbaijan warns that if attacks on civilian bases are not stopped, it will attack and destroy military bases in Armenia. Meanwhile, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev has tweeted that his forces have captured Jabrail town and some villages in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. Armenia has denied this claim.

The conflict between the two countries, which were part of the Soviet Union, has been going on for a week. Following the latest claim of an attack on Azerbaijan’s civilian targets there has been a possibility of expanding the scope of the fight.

So far, the epicenter of the fight remains the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. The majority of the population here are Christians of Armenian descent, which Muslim-majority Azerbaijan does not like. Due to this, there has been a continuous conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia after the break up of the Soviet Union.

Hikmat Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, has said that if Armenia did not cease attacks on civilian bases, military bases within Armenia would be attacked and destroyed. But Armenia has denied any attack on the civilian hideout.

The leader of the Nagorno-Karabakh region has said that his army targeted the military airbase of Ganja and not civilian targets. Planes are flying from this airbase to bomb Nagorno-Karabakh.

It is noteworthy that Turkish military support is given to Azerbaijan, while Armenia is Russia’s strategic partner. If the scope of the battle extends, it can take the form of fierce war.

What is the history of Nagorno-Karabakh

Nagorno-Karabakh is a large area spread over 4,400 square kilometers. Armenian Christian and Muslim Turks live in this area. This area comes from Azerbaijan. It is said that this area within Azerbaijan had become an autonomous area during the existence of the Soviet Union.

Internationally, this area is known only as part of Azerbaijan, but the majority of the population here is Armenian. In 1991, the people of this region declared themselves independent of Azerbaijan and declared part of Armenia. Azerbaijan rejected this action completely. After this, there are frequent conflicts between the two countries at certain intervals.
