Australia’s Test Team Selected For Pakistan Tour

Australia’s Test team selected for Pakistan tour, Ashton Agar returns.

The 18-player Australia Test team for the upcoming tour of Pakistan was selected by the National Selection Panel (NSP) on Tuesday.

The team’s command is in the hands of Pat Cummins, while Ashton Agar has returned to the team. Pakistan-born Usman Khawaja is also on the team.

The Australian team will tour Pakistan for three Test matches, three One Day Internationals, and one T20 International for the first time since 1998.

Test players and staff are due to leave for Pakistan later this month. At the same time, the team for ODI and T20 will be announced later.

NSP President George Bailey said, “The team has been selected keeping in mind all the circumstances and scenarios. Several sub-continent tours and the ODI World Cup in India have been kept in mind.”

This is the first major challenge for the team after winning the Ashes series. It is also a very historic tour as the Australian team is touring Pakistan for a long time.

Last week, Justin Langer resigned as Australia coach and Andrew McDonald will take over as interim head coach.

Some other former players, including Ricky Ponting, have criticized Test captain Pat Cummins for not backing Langer.

In the Ashes series, Khawaja got a chance to play in place of opener Marcus Harris in the Australian team. Harris has also been included in the team.

Josh Hazlewood, who missed four out of five Ashes Tests due to injury, has also made a comeback.

Apart from them, the pace attack includes Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Scott Boland, Michael Neser, and all-rounder Cameron Green.

Apart from Nathan Lyon, Ashton Agar and Mitchell Swepson have been added as spin substitutes.
