Ashleigh Barty and Karolina Pliskova will have the title match: Wimbledon 2021.
It hasn’t been easy for Ashleigh Barty to reach her first Wimbledon final as she stopped playing last month after suffering a hip injury.
But she doesn’t let herself get too upset and why she is the number one player, she even made it to the finals.
Barty entered the women’s singles final of the Wimbledon tennis tournament for the first time after beating former champion Angelique Kerber in straight sets here on Thursday.
Australian player Barty defeated Angelique Kerber 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
She will face Karolina Pliskova in the final, who defeated Aryna Sabalenka 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 in the other semi-final.
Former world number one Pliskova made a stunning comeback from the opening set to seal her first Wimbledon final as a new women’s champion this time around.
The final match will be played on Saturday. Prior to this, Barty was also the junior champion at Wimbledon in 2011.
She said, ‘My career has had many ups and downs and everything happened in between but, we should follow our own path and journey.
Playing at Wimbledon has been the best experience. This has been the best tennis match I have played so far.
The 25-year-old had won the first Grand Slam title of her career in the 2019 French Open.
Kerber won the Wimbledon title in 2018 and was runner-up in 2016. After losing the first set against Barty, he had a chance to come back in the second set.
Kerber was serving for the set at 5-3, but she lost her serve. After this, the set was pulled to the tiebreaker.
French Open 2019 winner Barty took a 6-0 lead in the tiebreaker and then registered a win on her fourth match point. Kerber’s backhand was then tangled over the net.
