Army Chief Narwane reached Pithoragarh, will take stock from officials, inspect the border.

Chief of Army Staff Manoj Mukund Narwane reached Pithoragarh on Thursday. He has reached Army Cantonment Pithoragarh Army Brigade.

Where the army officials will meet and take stock of the border situation. The Chief of Army Staff will remain in Pithoragarh military cantonment today.

We will inspect the border with China on Friday. Pithoragarh district has the longest 136 km border of the state along the 345 km border with China.

The border with the China border is the most sensitive. China has also built a military camp in Pata, Tibet, about 10 km from the Leipulekh border.

Second number commander Rajkhowa surrenders in ULFA (I), militant organization may open important secret

The second commander of the militant group ULFA (Independent), Drishti Rajkhowa, surrendered in Meghalaya on Wednesday. Four more of his comrades have also surrendered.

Rajkhowa is currently under military intelligence and is being brought to Assam. Rajkhowa is considered to be a confidant of the United Liberation Front of Independent Commander in chief Paresh Barua.

Sources said that Rajkhowa was in Bangladesh recently and had just arrived in Meghalaya a few days ago. A security expert said that Rajkhowa’s surrender is a major setback for the militant group (ULFA).

The ULFA has been demanding an independent state of Assam. The government banned the organization in 1990.

Ulkha (I) is a very active terrorist gang in North East India. The army and the state police have always been on the terrorists associated with this organization.

Last month, a joint team of Assam Police busted the recruitment racket of banned ULFA (I) militants in Tinsukia district and arrested four of its members with weapons.

The combined team saved four minors from their capture. During this time an army officer had said that it was the biggest recruitment racket of ULFA (I) in recent times.

Four hardcore members were arrested from various places in Tinsukia. Four minors brought in to be admitted were also removed from their clutches.
