Dr. Padmaja Desai, lecturer of ancient history and archeology at Raichur University, said regarding the statue of Lord Vishnu that it must have been a part of the sanctum sanctorum of a temple.
Probably it might have been thrown into the river to protect the temple from vandalism. This statue has suffered some damage. The nose of the idol is slightly damaged.

The standing statue of Vishnu has four hands, with the two raised hands equipped with conch and chakra.
The two hands straight downward are in the posture of blessing. One of them is ‘Kati Hasta’ and the other is ‘Varad Hasta’.
However, Garuda is not depicted on this idol. Usually, Garuda is also there in the Vishnu idol. This idol is similar to Lord Venkateswara mentioned in the scriptures.
Desai pointed out that Lord Vishnu likes decorations and hence he has been adorned with garlands and jewellery.
