Ambika Soni Turns Down Congress High Command’s Offer

Ambika Soni turns down Congress high command’s offer, refuses to become CM of Punjab.

Congress MP and senior leader Ambika Soni have rejected the proposal of the party high command. He has refused to accept the offer of the post of Chief Minister of Punjab.

According to sources, Ambika Soni has said that she does not want to accept the offer of the chief minister’s post. However, the top leadership of the party is yet to take a decision on Soni’s refusal.

According to the information, Soni, a veteran Congress leader and close to the Gandhi family, has rejected this proposal citing health.

Soni’s name has come up for the post of CM because she is one of the senior-most leaders of the party and both Captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu have great respect for Soni.

Sources further said that the observers who went to Chandigarh are taking written opinions from all the MLAs.

Earlier, the oral opinion of the MLAs was taken, but all the MLAs have been asked to give it in writing.

Sources said the views of the MLAs would be conveyed to the Congress high command and a final decision would be taken at the earliest.

Despite the speculations about the candidates for the post of Chief Minister, the final decision will be taken by the party high command.

Presently observers Ajay Maken, Harish Rawat, Harish Chaudhary, and Navjot Singh Sidhu are meeting with the MLAs at a hotel in Chandigarh.

Earlier, Captain Amarinder Singh had resigned from the post of Chief Minister before the meeting of party MLAs on Saturday.

The CLP on Saturday unanimously passed a resolution giving power to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to nominate the new chief minister of Punjab after Captain Amarinder Singh stepped down.
