Al-Qaeda’s Links With Pakistani Terrorist Organizations

Al-Qaeda’s links with Pakistani terrorist organizations Lashkar and Jaish are getting stronger warned India in UN.

India’s Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) said that al-Qaeda’s links with Pakistani terrorist organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Muhammad, banned by the Security Council, are getting stronger.

He also emphasized that the recent developments in Afghanistan have given this terrorist organization an opportunity to grow stronger.

India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador TS Tirumurti told the International Counter-Terrorism Action Conference-2022 organized by the Global Counter-Terrorism Council on Tuesday that the Islamic State (IS) has changed its ways.

Its focus is on regaining ground in Syria and Iraq, and its regional allies are expanding their presence, particularly in Africa and Asia.

Tirumurti is also the chairman of the United Nations Security Council’s (UNSC) Counter-Terrorism Action Committee-2022.

He said that the terrorist attacks of 9/11 in 2001 underlined that the menace of terrorism is serious and universal and the world needs to unite against it.

The era of classification of terrorists is over.

The Indian diplomat said the era of classifying terrorists as you and me is over. Terrorism in all its forms must be condemned.

He termed as “dangerous” the tendency of member states to classify terrorism on grounds of religion, politics, or any other reason.

Perpetrators of the 1993 Mumbai blasts got government protection.

Tirumurti said that the crime syndicate responsible for the 1993 Mumbai blasts was not only given government protection but they were also given five-star level hospitality.

India’s indirect reference was to Dawood Ibrahim, a gangster allegedly hiding in Pakistan.

He said that the link between terrorism and transnational organized crime should be fully cognizant and dealt with full force.

It is to be noted that Pakistan first acknowledged the presence of Dawood Ibrahim on its soil in August 2020.

When the government imposed comprehensive sanctions on 88 banned terror groups and their leaders. Dawood’s name was also included in the list.
