Attempts to smuggle drugs across the international border failed; 135 crore heroin recovered, smuggler also killed
BSF personnel deployed in the security of the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir once again foiled Pakistan’s nefarious conspiracy.
Refuting an attempt by Pakistan to deliver a consignment of drugs to Jammu and Kashmir, BSF jawans not only recovered 27 kg of heroin but also killed the smuggler who was bringing it here.
The value of heroin seized in the international market is said to be around Rs 135 crore.
According to information received from BSF officials, BSF jawans saw an intruder coming near the Indian border in the Pansar area, adjacent to the Indo-Pak International Border in the Hiranagar sector of district Kathua.
The jawans saw that the intruder was trying to enter the Indian border by hiding. As he approached the Indian border, BSF jawans warned him.
He was asked to hand himself over to the soldiers but the intruder ignored their every warning and tried to run back towards the Pakistani border.
Seeing the intruder running away, BSF jawans piled him there. On search, a consignment of narcotics was recovered from him.
On investigation, it was found that the intruder had tied a long bandage on his body which contained 27 packets of heroin.
According to a BSF official, the value of heroin recovered during the operation is said to be more than Rs 135 crore in the international market. The smuggler is being identified.
Earlier on January 23, the BSF had unearthed a 150-meter underground tunnel in the Pansar area itself.
Through this tunnel, Pakistani soldiers used to infiltrate terrorists apart from smuggling drugs, weapons.
After the agreement, Pakistani troops may have stopped unprovoked shelling along the Indian border, but efforts are still continuing to infiltrate terrorists and promote the drug trade in Jammu and Kashmir.
