Yes CM Jagan Mohan Reddy said that Visakhapatnam will be the new capital of Andhra Pradesh.

This announcement was made by CM Reddy while addressing the preparatory meeting for the Global Investors Summit to be held in Visakhapatnam in March.

Now the capital of Andhra Pradesh is Amaravati. The then Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu chose Amaravati as the new capital of Andhra Pradesh on April 23, 2015, bypassing all the controversies.

On the other hand, on October 22, 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the construction of the new capital in Amaravati.

Subsequently, in 2020, the state planned to have three capital cities, namely Amaravati (legislative capital), Visakhapatnam (executive capital), and Kurnool (judicial capital).

But Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government repealed the controversial Andhra Pradesh Decentralization and Inclusive Development of All Regions Act 2020 in November last year.
