Reports indicate that Afghan troops have successfully captured several Pakistani posts during the skirmishes. The fighting coincided with Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi’s visit to India, prompting concerns about escalating tensions in the region. Pakistan reportedly conducted airstrikes on Afghan territory just as Muttaqi arrived in India.

The Afghan Defense Ministry confirmed to Tolo News that Afghan forces destroyed one Pakistani post each in Kunar and Helmand provinces. Intense clashes were also reported in Paktia province’s Rub Jaji district, where Afghan border forces engaged Pakistani troops with both light and heavy weapons.

Tolo News reported that five Pakistani soldiers lost their lives in the fighting, while two others were wounded. Afghan forces have reportedly seized weapons from Pakistani troops, highlighting the severity of the confrontation. Fighting continues in areas including Spina Shaga, Givi, and Mani Jabha.

The incident follows Pakistan’s recent airstrikes on October 9 targeting TTP chief Noor Wali Mehsud in Kabul, Khost, Jalalabad, and Paktika. The Afghan Taliban government accused Pakistan of violating Afghanistan’s sovereignty. Foreign Minister Muttaqi emphasized that Afghans’ courage should not be tested and expressed a desire for constructive relations with both India and Pakistan, urging that diplomacy should not be one-sided.

Afghan troops attacked Pakistani military posts at multiple locations, prompting retaliation from Pakistani forces. Local officials in Helmand province confirmed that Taliban forces captured two Pakistani border posts.

Afghanistan has vowed a strong response to the Pakistani airstrikes, signaling continued volatility along the border. Pakistan, however, has neither officially confirmed nor denied the recent airstrikes, leaving the situation tense and unpredictable.

This ongoing border conflict marks one of the deadliest clashes in recent months, raising concerns over regional stability and the potential for further escalation between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
