US Gun Control Law Passed In The Lower House

US gun control law passed in the lower house, proposal to increase the age of buying a deadly weapon to 21 years.

Concerned by the recent shooting incidents in  New York, etc., the US has moved towards a comprehensive law on gun control.

After becoming law in New York state, the lower house of Representatives on Wednesday passed a comprehensive gun control bill to expand the law to the entire country.

Under this law, it is proposed to increase the age limit for buying a semi-automatic rifle to 21 years.

Apart from this, the sale of magazines with a capacity of more than 15 rounds will be banned. The House passed it by a vote of 223 to 204 on party lines.

However, it is unlikely to pass the upper house Senate, as there are some concerns about reforming the Senate’s mental health programs, strengthening school safety, etc.

But the bill would give Democrat lawmakers a chance to put their stand among voters in the November election.

This is the reason that in America with a population of 33 crores, ordinary citizens have 39 crore weapons.
