US Commission Recommends Ban on RAW: Accepting the recommendation is not mandatory

Experts believe that there is little hope that America will ban India’s intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW). But now all eyes are on the decision of the Trump administration. The government doesn’t need to accept the order of the commission. Now it remains to be seen whether Trump accepts it or not.

America had made allegations last year, too

In 2023, the US and Canada accused India of targeting pro-Khalistan supporters. The US accused a former Indian official, Vikas Yadav, of plotting the murder of terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. The bitterness in relations with India after the statement of former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has not yet been resolved.

US Commission Recommends Ban on RAW: Accused of hateful rhetoric

In its report released on Tuesday, the US commission said that the state of religious freedom in India worsened further in 2024, as attacks and discrimination against religious minorities increased. The commission reportedly alleged, “Hindu nationalist Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bharatiya Janata Party made hateful rhetoric against Muslims and other religious minorities” during the election campaign last year.

However, India calls such reports biased. India says that every scheme of the Modi government is running without discrimination. Help is being given to every community. Every section is getting the benefit of all schemes, including housing, electricity, and subsidy.
