UN expressed concern about Afghanistan, said – the world can no longer leave Afghanistan alone.
The global community should help the people of Afghanistan, otherwise, it will have to pay a heavy price.
The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General has expressed concern today about the Taliban’s occupation of Afghanistan.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Wednesday that the world can no longer leave Afghanistan alone for the sake of its people and overall global security.
Guterres told the UN Security Council meeting on Afghanistan that at this time the global community needs to take Afghanistan forward and called on the council to help in this.
Guterres warned that “Afghanistan is hanging by a thread” as the country’s economy is crumbling in the midst of a severe winter.”
On the other hand, more than half the citizens are starving and some families have to sell their children. They are also being forced so that they can buy food.
The world may have to pay a heavy price.
Guterres said Afghanistan has long been a fertile ground for terrorist groups.
He said that if we do not act and do not help the Afghans to deal with this storm, then the region and the world will have to pay a heavy price.
He urged genuine authorities to work together with the global community to suppress the menace of terrorism.
Taliban won the trust of the international community.
The UN said in a statement that Guterres urged the Taliban to create an environment of opportunity and security for Afghans and uphold human rights so that the international community’s trust in the Taliban increases.
Taliban should give security to women.
Highlighting the condition of women, the UN chief said that once again girls are out of offices and classrooms. He said that girls are neither able to work nor are they able to study.
He also appealed for the release of women activists who were recently arrested or abducted. He also asked the Taliban to take steps for their release.
