The Richter scale earthquake intensity was measured at 7.0. At least 12 people were killed and a large number of people were injured in the Turkish earthquake. Now the number of casualties has reached 17 while the number of injured has reached 709.

In a statement released by the United Nations spokesman Stephane Dujarric, the UN Secretary expressed grief over the loss of life and devastation caused by the Turkish earthquake.

The spokesman said that the UN chief has also expressed grief to the victims’ family and wished the injured to recover soon.

Relief and rescue work in affected areas continues

Officials had said that reports of buildings collapsing and people buried in debris have been reported in many districts.

There are also reports of partial damage to properties in many other areas. Officials said relief and rescue operations are going on in the affected areas.

Izmir Mayor Tunk Soyer said, ‘There are reports of about 20 buildings collapsing in the city. The governor of Izmir said 70 people were rescued safely from the debris.

Medical students were in the Guzelbeck area of ​​Izmir at the time of the Ilke-side earthquake.

He said that I have a lot of earthquake experience. So initially I did not take it seriously. But, this time it was scary. He said that there were tremors for at least 25-30 seconds.

There was a strong earthquake in the Aegean Sea on Friday. The earth shook from Turkey to Greece with its tremors. It measured 7.0 on the Richter scale. Buildings in Turkey killed 12 people.

Due to the earthquake, people got out on the streets in panic and started running around. Earthquake tremors were also felt in Istanbul and the Greek island of Samos. In both countries, high waves started rising in the sea and many areas of Izmir city of Turkey were flooded.

Turkish government media quoted disaster and emergency management officials as saying that 12 people were killed and 419 were injured. Officials said that reports of buildings collapsing and debris buried in several districts.

There have also been reports of partial damage to properties in several other areas. Officials said relief and rescue operations are going on in the affected areas. Two teenagers died after a wall collapsed on Samos Island.
