Two suspected cases of new Delta variant found in Karnataka, infection is spreading rapidly in Britain due to AY.4.2 variant.
Two suspected cases of a new variant of the coronavirus have been found in Karnataka. This has increased the concern of the state government.
State Health Minister K. Sudhakar said that samples of both cases have been sent for genome sequencing. The new variant is said to be a redesign of the Delta.
If we talk about the whole country, after eight months, the lowest number of 12,428 new cases of infection have been reported.
There have also been 356 deaths during the last 24 hours, but 281 of these deaths are from Kerala alone. In Kerala too, 228 out of 281 deaths were reported during the last few days, added with the new figures.
Kerala is linking the deaths before the last four days with the latest figures. Of the new cases, 6,664 are from Kerala alone.
Sudhakar said that he has directed the Health Ministry to send samples of both the suspected cases of the AY.4.2 variant for testing so that it can be confirmed.
People who have been found to have this variant are residents of Bangalore and do not have any symptoms of the disease. Sudhakar said that people taking both doses of the vaccine need not worry.
This variant is believed to be responsible for the rapidly spreading infection in Britain. Whereas, the delta variant was believed to be responsible for the second wave in India.
Meanwhile, according to the data released by the Union Health Ministry at 8 am on Tuesday, there has been a decline of 3,879 inactive cases in the last one day and active cases stand at 1,63,816, which is 0.49 percent of the total cases.
Overall, the crisis of the corona epidemic is decreasing. Barring Kerala, the situation in the entire country seems to be almost normal.
The recovery of patients is improving and the daily and weekly infection rate remains below 2 percent.
103.55 crore doses of vaccine have been administered so far.
The pace of vaccination has also remained fine. So far, more than 103.55 crore vaccines have been administered.
These include 72.30 crores first and 31.24 crore second doses. The Center has provided a total of 107.22 crore doses of anti-corona vaccine to the states and union territories so far.
